We are a little family of two living on the lovely iland Alsen in the south of Denmark. I run an organic Bed and Breakfast beside my regular work as a social educator at a little privat school and yogateaching in the school nearby. My daughter Lisa (21 years) did workaway for a year and just come homne to earn some money to go on new adventures. My two other children Hannah is living in Randers and Duncan in Copenhagen. But they like to come home, whenever they got time to share our rural live and enjoy the nature around here.
My house is from 1785 with a lot of charme from the "good old days". In former time it was the living house of the miller from Havnbjerg Mill. The mill is still there and is beautifully situated at the hill behind the house. I have a big vegetable garden, lot of flowers and since summer 2014 we have two goats for fun and as pet animals for the guests.
Through wwoof and work away I want to find persons with construction skills for small and big building projects, work with clay as a building material, wood pallets for making furniture,, repairing old floors, painting windows and so on. I want to find people who can use their hands and are not afraid of getting them dirty. There is always something to do in the garden. Persons who stay here are a member of the family, they must like to be many, but also can work on their own. You are welcome all through the year. As I am quite busy with work and yoga teaching, I prefer to have two volunteers at one time; a couple or two friends are very welcome. Your are also welcome just to come on your own, but you have to be aware of that you will be here on your own half the day, because of my part time job. Accommodation is the little guestroom or the caravan in the garden, and a few times it will be just a mattress on the floor. You share the bath with us and sometimes other guests.
I like to cook good food with the fresh vegetables from the garden and volunteers are welcome to cook as well, I like to learn new receipts. We help each other in the kitchen. Lisa likes to make cookies, so often there is also a good desert. Have a nice talk in the coffee break or a glass of wine in the evening, making bonfire or a tour to the beach is also a part of staying here.
Minimum stay a week. After two weeks stay we can decide if you can stay longer, if we are happy together and there are not coming other volunteers. Both parts have to be honest about their expectations and abilities. Write and you will get an answer in a few days. We are not vegetarien, but there is no problem to host you. Also vegans are welcome, just tell us before you are coming.
