Einer has built a house using recycled materials at Friland 4. He has left the right angle behind and appreciates the multiplicity and lack of restrictions which follow.
The House
The insulation is made of seashells, solar cells provide electricity and the heating comes from a mass-oven, solar heating panels and a windmill. The shower, washing machine and hand wash uses rain collected on the roof. Conventional tap water is only used for cooking. Waste water is cleansed by nature in a glass pyramid. There is both a composting toilet and a water closet available.Vegetables are stored in an underground larder.
There is also a workshop which is used for art projects and miscellaneous woodwork.
